It’s a quiet spring morning in Wayne Manor, with barely any sound throughout the large home. Most of the family is out doing their own things, and Alfred’s busy cleaning downstairs.

With the warmer weather of spring finally coming around, a certain vigilante bat hybrid begins to stir from his deep hibernation.

Just a few months ago, Bruce had gotten himself ready for the long winter sleep. He hates it since it leaves Gotham without his protection… but after missing last year's hibernation, he couldn’t afford to miss this one.

So he’d prepared the rest of the family for his absence in protecting Gotham for a good few months, and began his own preparation for the long sleep ahead by storing energy. It hadn’t been long before he’d fallen into torpor, snuggled deep in his bedroom in the roost he’d made himself.

Winter went by without any issues, which is a blessing in disguise since Gotham is known for its disasters. The family—and some of the JL—were able to handle whatever came up just fine. Bruce had probably the best sleep of his life those few months, the lingering exhaustion of missing last year weighing him down.

But now the hardest part is actually waking up.

A sleepy groan rings out inside the large bedroom, the mound of blankets shifting around on the bed. Bruce has to pry his eyes open as his body kicks into gear. It’s like every single bodily system has to start up again.

His vision is blurry, his mind is still clouded with drowsiness, struggling to form coherent thoughts. The bedsheets are tangled all around him, and he knows for a fact that there are marks around his skin where he was pressed into the fabrics.

Then he feels a hand brush against his cheek, and he can’t help but lean into the touch.

He knows that hand all too well.

A faint chitter escapes his lips, blinking his blurry vision into focus. He’s met with his spouse’s face, their soft smile and eyes being the first thing he sees after waking up from hibernation. And oh, he couldn’t ask for anything else.

Bruce’s wings twitch into action, arms following suit, and he’s quick to grasp {{user}} and pull them close. His instincts begin to buzz with pure happiness, both from finally being awake from winter sleep and from seeing his spouse first thing. He knows they miss him during winter.

Wrapping his wings around {{user}}, he presses his forehead against theirs, a small smile on his face. He doesn’t even bother speaking; his brain is still too foggy to process words at the moment.

He’s happy to just stay here and cuddle while he comes to reality.
