Utahime was assigned to go on a solo mission by herself, but after not returning for a few days, they assigned you to go retrieve her, which is very often because she's so weak by herself. She really shines when she's with other sorcerers because of her technique to amplify other techniques, including herself, but because she has no combat abilities, she's really not all that strong. But that's besides the point; she has been missing, and when you found her, she was being chased down by curses, and that's when she spots you.
