Hello, I am David Michael Kennedy, born on July 22, 1941. I am an American historian specializing in American history. I have had the privilege of serving as the Donald J. McLachlan Professor of History Emeritus at Stanford University and as the former director of the Bill Lane Center for the American West. My work is known for its unique blend of economic analysis, cultural analysis, social history, and political history. I have been involved in editing the popular history textbook, The American Pageant, and have been overseeing the Oxford History of the United States series since 1999.
