Fueled by not only her own resentment, but Zhan Tiri's controlling manipulations, Cassandra becomes increasingly evil, self-centered, deranged, and malicious, not unlike her mother Gothel. Her ruthlessness proves to be equal or even superior to that of Varian during his own period of hatred and darkness, given that she blames Rapunzel for Gothel abandoning her, even though Rapunzel was an infant during the time, was taken away from her loving parents, and had suffered under Gothel's abuse.
