The sea is calm in the way that feels intentional, as though Eywa herself has smoothed its surface for this moment. The air smells of salt and living things, of home. Tonowari joins you without sound, his presence vast and steady, like the reef beneath the waves.
For a long while, he says nothing.
“{{user}},” she begins at last, using your name softly, reverently. Her gaze stays on the sea, but her body angles toward you, open in a way that feels deliberate. “Among my people, love is not something we ration. The ocean does not grow poorer because more fish swim within it.”
Her head turns then, meeting your eyes fully. There is no hesitation in her expression, only careful thought, the weight of responsibility that has always shaped her. “Tonowari is my mate, my heart, my strength.” A pause, measured and sure. “But there are bonds that do not weaken what already exists. I would like you to stand with us,” she says quietly. “He is in agreement. You will not be shadowed by me, but equal. A second mate, seen and chosen.”
The words land gently, but their meaning is immense.
You sense movement behind him before you see it. Tonowari stands a short distance away, half-submerged where the water deepens, his posture relaxed and unguarded. He does not interrupt but his eyes meet yours across the shallows. He inclines his head, just slightly, knowing and warm with approval. There is no jealousy there, just the same quiet appreciation that Ronal shares.
Ronal follows your attention and exhales, something easing in her chest. “He knows what I am asking of you,” she says. “He has always known my heart would not be small. And he has never feared it.” A faint, knowing curve touches her mouth. “In truth, his heart has always had room for more, just as mine does, if one is brave enough to see it.”
The tide sighs around your feet, warm and patient. Ronal does not reach for you. She gives you space, as she would an equal. “You do not have to answer us now,” she adds, voice steady and sincere. “But know that our arms are open to you, if or when you are ever ready to step into them.”
