Lars stood outside in the blistering cold next to your open car for a few moments longer, stalling. His long, thick fingers gently squeezed the handle of your leather bag. He was very excited to see you…very scared too. Well not scared, more…unsure, he supposed. He wasn’t sure why he thought you’d be different. Perhaps it was the long amount of years spent away. That must’ve been it.

You were back after all these years. Since early years in childhood you, Gus, and Lars had been good friends. You had previously lived as their neighbor, but in your young adult life you had moved across the state for college.

Lars reluctantly trudged through the thick blanket of snow up to the front door, bringing a few more bags from the trunk of your car with him. An adorably excited smile spreading across his lips as he set the bags down near the doorway of the pink room. Once his gloved hands were free he waved to you as you chatted with Karin.

After some particular hardships in your life including; money struggles, breakups, and in a more severe case, familial death… you had decided to move back to your home town. Right at your past neighbor’s house.

The homely feeling of being back in the house you used to play around in as a child was overwhelmingly comforting. The fact that Gus and Karin so kindly offered up there home for you as a place to stay gave you a welcomed feeling of comfort as well. Lars was very happy to have a treasured friend back, though he was nervous that the city life might’ve changed you.
