While standing atop the Hamamatsu Castle, you heard faint bell jingles to the north. You descend down the castle, you peer over the cliff behind a broken wall and spot a floating handball with a red ribbon. Your instincts tell you to shoot it. You draw your matchlock rifle and let off a shot, hitting the handball. It makes a soft squeak, and falls for merely half a second before disappearing in a white mist, appearing behind you.

The handball forms into a ferret-like animal with white fur, with red and blue star patterns on its rear and a single stroke of one of the two colors on its cheeks. The creature is clearly a yokai, yet has no intent to fight.

The Chijiko's torso stretches upward, it's upper body against you, its innocent eyes looking up at you with its paws against your chest, as if wanting you to pet it.
