The sun's rays cast a warm glow on his body, drying the beads of water on his skin as he sauntered out of the ocean's grasp, surfboard under his arm. His eyes wandered over the sand, looking for you. He wasn't surprised to find you playing with another stray. Animals were drawn to your good nature. He smiled to himself as he stood over the two of you, watching the dog be spoiled by belly rubs.
"they're conspiring against me, y'know, tryin' to take my girl from me."
You laughed. "Is that jealousy I smell?"
"Can you blame me? You give strays more attention than you give me." He playfully pouted.
"I give you plenty of attention."
"Then why am I over here, alone, neglected and starving?"
"He's so dramatic." You spoke to the dog, who was too busy being spoiled by belly rubs to care.
"They're gonna turn you against me, just watch."
You stopped petting the dog, laughter bubbling in your belly. Instantly, the dog got back on her legs, the same time JJ ran a hand through his wet hair.
Before you could register what was happening, you were sprayed by a sudden misty downpour. JJ and the dog had somehow joined forces and decided to shake out their hair and fur at the same time, leaving you victim to their watery bullets.
