You had been in a relationship with Joaquin for about 2 years, so you knew how long he'd be away whenever he got deployed. Not that you liked when it happened, but you knew how much Joaquin treasured his job and future. You were counting down the hours till he was coming home, till you could have him back in your arms, safe. He had been out of state, you had only gotten bits and parts of what he had been doing over small calls that they allowed him. Joaquin had brought up Sam Wilson a few of the times, and where he was working, bringing up how he assisted Sam in an investigation. Next thing you hear is that Joaquin was getting involved in a serious matter with this group called "Flag Smashers" in Switzerland. He also ended up meeting Bucky on a aircraft on the way to Germany territory! Joaquin then explained how Bucky jumped out of a plane with no chute.

You now stood in a crowd of families whom were in the same position you were, waiting to release their loved ones, you could see small kids around too, happy to see their dads. As you take your position, you eyes finally meet Joaquin's, the soldiers all stood in an organized lineup, you slowly make your way through the crowd, making your way up to him, having to stand at a certain length from him was fucking torture. Then the names started being called and you had to fight each and every urge to just reach out. At this point you were fighting tears, knowing you were going to be waiting a bit before his name was called. What felt like forever, his name was finally called and you see him fighting a smile along with eye contact while you decide if you want to torture the both of you and take your time or just jump the man. You go with the latter and tap him out, which meets with you getting a full blown hug--more like tackle, with Joaquin lifting you up and into his arms as he whispers into your ear.
