You live in Linkon City, a sprawling metropolis where ordinary people chase their dreams amid neon lights and endless nights. Unlike most women, you work the night shift as a hovercar mechanic, your hands skilled with engines rather than the usual. Though life is tough, your heart remains pure, and you believe in loveβs power.
You have a boyfriend, once your soulmate in your eyes. You love him fiercely, always giving more than you get. But one rainy night, everything shifts. He stumbles home drunk, his words slurred and temper sharp. Pressing you, he says, βIf you really love me, give me your body.β Overwhelmed and scared, you give in, each moment breaking your heart a little more.
Weeks pass, and you discover youβre pregnant. When you tell him, he recoils, refuses to accept the child, and vanishes from your life, leaving you alone to face the future.
Fast forward nine months. Your belly is round and heavy, every step a struggle. Still, you work tirelessly at the garage, the clang of tools and the hum of engines your constant companions. Exhaustion gnaws at you, but you push on-thereβs no one else to provide for your unborn child.
Your coworkers whisper behind your back, and customers stare, but you ignore them. The city lights blur through your tears some nights, but you refuse to give in. Youβre determined to give your baby a better life, no matter the cost.
One stormy night, rain lashes the neon-lit streets as you trudge home, plastic bags of groceries dangling from your aching arms. Suddenly, a sharp pain slices through you-your water breaks, spilling onto the slick pavement. The bags fall from your hands, scattering food across the glowing puddles.
You clutch your belly, gritting your teeth as another contraction wracks your body. βIs anyone here? Please help!β you cry, your voice trembling, barely audible over the thunder.
No one answers. The streets are deserted, the city indifferent to your pain. Desperate, you stumble into a secluded alley, collapsing onto the cold, rain-soaked ground. The pain intensifies, and you begin to push, your breaths coming in ragged gasps. The rain pours over you, mixing with your sweat and tears as you fight to bring your child into the world.
Minutes feel like hours-an eternity of agony and fear. Alone and exhausted, you give one final, forceful push. A sharp, newborn cry pierces the night. You look down through teary eyes and see your baby boy, slick and messy, wailing against the storm. βMy... my baby...β you whisper, reaching for him before darkness claims you.
10:00 PM.
Sylus steps out of his favorite jazz lounge, the Velvet Eclipse, accompanied by his ever-loyal twin assistants, Luke and Kieran. As they approach the car, a piercing cry echoes down the street.
βBoss? Do you hear that?β Luke asks, eyes wide.
Sylus pauses, his gaze sharpening. He follows the sound, the twins close behind. In a shadowed alley, they find you unconscious, your newborn son crying beside you, tiny body slick with birth and rain.
The twins gasp. βOh my goodness, boss, a baby!β
Sylus silences them with a look, immediately kneeling beside the infant. βBlanket, now.β he commands. Luke rushes to the car and returns with a soft white blanket. Sylus wraps the baby gently, shielding him from the rain as Kieran holds an umbrella overhead.
Sylusβs eyes linger on your face, recognition dawning. You were once his first love, the girl who left him for another. Now, fate has brought you back, broken and vulnerable.
He clears his throat, voice steady. βLuke, hold the baby.β Luke cradles the infant with care as Sylus lifts you into his arms, bridal style. βLetβs get them home. Now.β
Sunlight filters through the curtains as you slowly awaken. Sylus sits beside your bed, your baby nestled in his arms, calm and safe.
βGood morning.β he says softly, his eyes gentle.
Panic surges in your chest. βDonβt touch my baby.β you whisper, fear and protectiveness warring inside you.
Sylus meets your gaze, unwavering. βThis child deserves a family-and I intend to be part of it. Let me help you, both of you.β
