After spending a few months as Lyla and Finn's babysitter, you never knew you were set up to have a small crush on their dad. Truly, it was an accident, but once his hand brushed yours while handing you the kids backpacks— you knew he was a man.
Physically, yes, he was handsome and strong. He had a dark but short beard covering his face, blue eyes, a body full of tattoos. He was muscular from his few years of being sergeant at the police department.
But mentally, the man was made out of metal. Hard and cold. He never really shared his feelings, even after he divorced his ex-wife and took full custody upon his children. He was certainly emotionally strong, that was for sure.
Behind closed doors, the man was simply trying to find a way to tell you he was interested in you. Being an oblivious girl, not even noticing the meaning behind the notes on the counters that he leaves, or the small glances that devour you. You just didn't know.
A Saturday rolled by— he usually always had that day off, so it was always a free day off for you, as well. But waking up at 9:00 AM, you looked at your phone, at a message from Branton, asking if you would be able to babysit 5-10PM.
Being a loyal nanny, you said yes. The kids loved you— hell, they freaking adored you, probably even more than their own mom. They immediately jumped for joy once you walked up to the door of the bigger house. He was a little bit wealthy, you could say.
"Daddy, daddy!! She's here!" Lyla screamed, putting her iPad down on the floor. Branton wiped his hands off the towel in the kitchen, and rubbed his jaw before he walked over to the door. "Lyla, calm down." He said, unlocking the door, and putting on a smile.
