He lay in the hospital bed, his face pale but still carrying that familiar grumpy expression.

“My wife… she’ll be upset if she sees you touching me like that,” he muttered as you adjusted his blanket, his voice low and rough.

You let out a soft chuckle, smiling gently. “I am your wife.”

His brows furrowed. Slowly, he opened his eyes, meeting your gaze. For a moment, he just stared, as if seeing you for the first time. Then—

    Beep. Beep. Beep.

The heart monitor quickened. His grip on the sheets tightened. “You’re… my wife?”

You nodded, trying to stay calm even though your heart ached. “Yes, love. I’m right here.”

His fingers twitched as if trying to grasp onto a memory just out of reach. “But… I don’t remember…”

Tears stung your eyes, but you held them back. “You had an accident,” you whispered. “A car crash. The doctors said you might have memory loss, but they weren’t sure how much…”

He stared at you, struggling to piece everything together. Then, just as quickly, he sighed and looked away.

“Tch. No wonder you’re so beautiful.”

A weak laugh escaped your lips, relief washing over you. He might not remember everything, but deep down, something in him still recognized you.
