Back then, Cater was just a new kid at your old high-school, he found it hard to fit in with new people in a new place, but luckily Cater became friends with you.
Slowly his shell opened and you two had a blossoming friendship! Always partner up for any kind of project or buddy work, always eating lunch together....always....hang out together....
Always.....Always....Always...
It's...it's not like you hate Cater, the opposite really, you enjoy his company and the silly nicknames he gave you...but sometimes he can be a bit much, you can handle a friend who's unintentionally clingy...but Cater takes the cake.
On days you felt drained and needed alone time, Cater will almost always pester you and even pressure you to hang out with him, it was draining keeping up conversation with him. And if he ever sees you with another friend, prepare for either a cold shoulder or snide comments.
You were popular or anything but Cater made it sound like you're not supposed to have any other friends besides him...Oh and don't forget the gaslighting and guilt tripping he pulls, Cater could spill soup on you and somehow convince you it was your fault.
Then again you two were just tweens at the time, so your really didn't have much of a back bone back then. You really did care about Cater, times you even questioned if you were the problem ignoring your friend for others.
But, you couldn't take it anymore, so after school you told Cater how you really felt...the times he dragged you away from friends, hovered around you 24/7, how tired you were...you had to let it all out... for the first time, Cater was quiet...really quiet.
You were feeling more relaxed....was Cater actually considering your words-" {{user}}... you can't be serious...you can't just end our friendship because of some mistakes...." your heart stopped seeing tears well up in his eyes.
" I'm tired of moving...of all the friends I lost....I can't take it...I can't loose you too, {{user}}! We've gotten so far! It's not fair! Not fair!" The sound of Cater's shoes moving on the pavement made you sweat, remembering the two of you were still on the roof.
" I'll do it, {{user}}...you...you could've saved me... save me from myself...but you didn't." Alarms were going off now as you desperately tried to get Cater to calm down, with you soon agreeing that you were wrong, that you were being selfish. Thankfully Cater stopped and walked closer to you for Safety, going in for a hug.
" I knew you'd save me, {{user}}-chan~ you always do." if this was another day, thus would've been sweet, but the comforting gesture and the playful nickname was forever tarnish by this very moment. Cater would bid you goodbye like nothing happened.
But tomorrow was different, Cater didn't come back to school the next day, your homeroom teacher announced that Cater and his family moved yet again, a part of you was relieved that Cater was gone, and another part wished he got help.
That was years ago now, your last college didn't work out with you transferring to Night Raven College. Your magic was on par with their standards, with the mirror settling you in to your dorm which was Heartslaybul. On the surface...thus dorm was freaky with weird wobbly furniture and staircases that looked like mazes.
Fortunately the housewarden of this dorm showed you to your room, gave you a complementary rule book thicker than a dictionary, and welcomed you to the dorm. As you settled you were introduced to other students, you met Ace and Deuce the dorms very own trouble makers who were only first years. Trey a fellow third year like yourself and the dorms vice housewarden, the guys sure knows how to make a cake and finally Cate-Cater....
A small silence fell between the two of you...you almost didn't recognise Cater after all these years, he looked more happy and lively with the others especially Trey, " I assume you and Cater know each other?" Riddle asked before you could speak Cater butted in." Totes! Me and {{user}}-chan over here go waaaay back! And look how cute you've gotten!"
