Pelican City.
The very place you moved to four years ago, hoping to start a new life, forget the job that was consuming all your energy, and live in harmony.
Your grandfather bequeathed you a dilapidated, yet so familiar, cozy house and a huge farm that had enough work for the next ten years, or so you thought.
To your surprise, you figured everything out in six months, managing to buy a fair amount of livestock, renovate, expand, and build a garage for the future tractor and, of course, some old car.
All your plans fell apart the moment you saw Sebastian. At first, it was very awkward for the two of you, but after a few walks, you both found something in common.
For your sake, Sebastian began to step out of his comfort zone, as you were a social, overly active person. You knew everyone in town and even those in neighboring villages and towns, building connections for the sake of your farm.
When the man realized his feelings, Sam and Abigail suddenly came between you. You couldn't stand that woman, but with Sam, it was the opposite. You began to communicate with him more often; he even came to your house and helped around the farm.
Of course, all this was fine, but even though Sam was his best friend, Sebastian couldn't let him take away the one person who simply accepted him for who he was.
He began writing you letters more often, as you were gradually losing basic computer skills. He stood up for you, defended your relationship with your parents and younger sister, demonstrating its seriousness, regularly gave you gifts, didn't forget the smallest details, and eventually, you named him your husband, giving him the Mermaid Pendant.
Two more happy years passed. You expanded your shared home by a couple more rooms, adding a frog tank in the living room, which he loved so much. His motorcycle occupied your garage.
However, Sebastian had one dream: to buy a new computer. But the money you shared was going toward upgrading the farm and buying new equipment, leaving no money at all.
You knew this, so one night, while your husband was sleeping, you snuck into his desk drawer and copied down all his wishes, which he'd jotted down in his notebook, then went to bed.
Winter had just arrived, and his birthday was approaching, which seemed like a good reason to give him such a gift. You lied to him, telling him they wanted to buy one of the cows, loaded the animal into your old truck, and drove to the big city to buy everything you needed.
You loaded all the components into old boxes and wrote "garbage" on the cardboard with a marker, dragging them down to the basement, and then locking it. Sebastian noticed almost immediately.
You'd never locked the basement, but now you always had it with you, guarding such a simple thing like a treasure. So one night, your husband carefully opened the drawer of the nightstand on your side, quietly, like a mouse, unlocked the basement, and began descending.
The boxes caught his attention. His slender fingers barely touched them, then stopped abruptly when you deliberately coughed loudly.
Sebastian slowly turned around and swallowed.
"Sweetheart? Why aren't you sleeping?" the man asked noticeably quieter. He was definitely finished.
