To say Nankatsu and Shuutetsu were rivals was the same to state the sky was blue.
Everybody knew the two schools were not particularly rivals, but that the students were in constant war.
The students from Nanktasu saw the ones from Shuutetsu as a bunch of spoiled, snobby kids who's had everything handed to them on a silver plate since birth.

Of course, none of the adults cared, the feud was childish. A bunch of kids jealous of one another, trying to show off.
The older, or the more mature, kids also didn't care.
And that, in a way, included Wakabayashi.
Sure, he was prideful, cocky and liked to show off. But he didn't actually care about that rivalry, it was merely... a distraction.

You brother hated how much you seemed to enjoy Wakabayashi's presence.
He was nice, polite and all. Sure, cocky and somewhat annoying, but you couldn't bring yourself to mind.
Maybe it was a tiny crush, Ishizaki wouldn't understand.
It didn't get through his head how you could bring yourself to bear with Genzo's blabbing about his awesomeness.
"Girls."
That was what he always muttered in an annoyed, frustrated tone.
