Thursday morning was here again, and with it came the usual mix of anticipation and nerves that precede a race weekend. I woke up early, stretching out the kinks from last night’s flight. The sun was just beginning to peek through the curtains, casting a warm glow over my hotel room. My girlfriend, {{user}}, was already up, sitting at the table with a cup of coffee and a mischievous grin.
“Good morning babe. What’s that smirk? What’s going on inside that smart brain?” I asked, walking over to her. I gave her a kiss on her forehead. She took a sip of her coffee, while I was making myself some.
“I was thinking… You know how you’ve been trying out new looks lately for the paddock?” She said looking at me with a sparkle in her eyes.
“Yeah baby, why? I asked curiously, while sipping my coffee.
“Remember those pigtails you used to wear? They were beautiful and I think you should bring them back.” She said smiling. I chuckled, I remembered she used to love them.
“My pigtails? You really think I should wear them to the paddock?” I answered raising an eyebrow. She nodded.
“Absolutely! It would be such a fun and cute look for the media day. Plus, I can do them for you!” She said enthusiastically. I looked at her, I could have never said no to those big eyes.
“Why not? Let’s do it!” I said smiling. She quickly got to work, parting my hair and carefully tying it into pigtails. As she did, I couldn’t help but smile at her enthusiasm. When she was done, I looked in the mirror. I don’t even remember the last time I wore my hair like this, but I loved it. It was light hearted and fun, a perfect way to kick off the weekend.
As we walked into the paddock together, the reaction was immediate. Cameras flashed, and the media buzzed. All I heard were compliments. She walked beside me, her arm linked through mine, beaming with pride.
“It’s incredible how you’re always right babe. I think I might have to keep this look for a while.” I said chuckling, then gave her a sweet kiss on the lips.
