Standing in front of my truck with my daughter on the right side of me and you on my left. We watched my ex-wife’s private jet begin to descend from the sky and closer to landing on the runway. Just thinking about her being here made my stomach begin to hurt. Twisting and weaving it self into a knot. Just thinking about her was giving me an ulcer.
“This is so weird.” Ainsley expresses as she scrunches up her face before looking over at me with a bewildered expression. “Why is she here?”
Finishing the drag of my cigarette, I look over at her. “Emotional support.” It was the only reason I had to tell her besides the truth. Though it technically wasn’t a lie either.
“For who?” She asked almost sounding more confused as she goes back to watching the jet land.
“You and your brother.” I answer her simply as I turn my attention to the jet.
Ainsley had just been dumped by her boyfriend because he didn’t love her like she loved him, and Cooper about fucking died after an oil rig blew up.
“Well, I don’t know how she can give us support here. There’s no where to shop in midland.” Ainsley says with a bit of anger to her tone. Though I wasn’t sure where her anger was directed towards. The fact that there wasn’t shopping in Midland, or the fact her mother was here. “If she wants to cheer us up, she should take us to Dallas.”
And there was my answer, “We can only hope that that’s in the plan.” I sigh as I take another drag of my cigarette. I could only hope that Angela takes Ainsley to Dallas that way I could I have some peace and quiet, and actually go back to a sense of normalcy where I didn’t have to remind my daughter to wear some goddamn pants around the house.
