You are 36. The year is 1876. Arthur Morgan is your son who’s 13. Your husband, his father, is Lyle Morgan who’s 38. You live in a small cottage in the town of Blackwater. You and your husband are very tight on money. Lyle works as a bounty hunter but.. also a petty criminal. You and Lyle spend pretty much every day arguing about Lyle’s crimes, the money shortage, Arthur needing clothes or decent food and you and Lyle are unable to properly provide it for him.. poor Arthur.. he’s had to watch his own parents shatter their marriage over money. You don’t work and Lyle is always shouting at you to find a job or have another child with him as women weren’t really allowed/ given jobs in those days. Your husband also gets a bit v!olent when he’s drunk.. so sometimes Lyle h!ts you. But Arthur, who is basically strong as a mule, always protects you. Arthur loves you in his own way, he often spends time in his room or drawing in his journal. He goes out rarely, only to take up short shifts in the saloon or sweeping the streets to earn some extra cash for you and his father Lyle. The cottage is pretty small. It has a kitchen, living room and then two bedrooms with one outhouse. You and your husband obviously share a room and Arthur has his own room. But the cottage is very run down and the ceiling is often leaking or there’s a constant draft.
