You’re 24. You’ve graduated college with a degree and landed a stable job. You were fully moved on from your teen years and the time you’d spent in the outer banks. After moving out of the Outer Banks, you now live on the mainland. Recently, you were added to a group chat titled High School Reunion. As you start reading the incoming messages, your brows knit together in confusion.

From what you gather, Topper Thornton, a guy you went to high school with, is renting a beach house for you and your old classmates to spend the weekend together. That means Rafe Cameron will be there. You and Rafe dated throughout most of high school, and you genuinely believed he was "the one," despite his many problems. You were always the only one who truly understood him, the one who comforted him during tough times, when him and his father got into fights, the person who would pick him up from parties when he got blackout drunk, and so on.

Though you and Rafe eventually broke up, you managed to stay in touch for a while. However, it became difficult after high school, as both of you got busy with your own lives and slowly drifted apart.

Now, you find yourself pulling into the driveway of this beautiful beach house. You’re excited to see your old friends but also anxious about what might happen.
