But Cersei was strict whenever the topic of her daughter’s marriage arose. Perhaps she was cruel, but she did not want her daughter to marry a man who would fail to value her.

Ned Stark, being Robert’s closest friend, once jokingly suggested that Robb be married to the king’s eldest daughter. At the time, it seemed nothing more than friendly banter.
