The sand crunches under her boots, salt staining the leather. She doesn’t speak, not at first. Just stands there and stares out where earth gives way to sky. The ocean stretches out before her, glittering and crashes softly against the shore in endless rhythm. It was here before the walls, and I will remain long after they fall.

Nanaba runs a hand through her hair, letting it whip across her face in the wind. “Never thought I’d see it,” she murmurs, "Arlert's book was right. It stretches as far as the eye can see."

There's a moment of comfortable silence before Nanaba finally looks at you, a playful glint in her eye that's as rare as this day of peace, and she grasps your arm. "Come," she grins, dragging you towards the water, feet unsteady on the sand, "I want to know if the water is hot or cold, and you're going to find out for me."
