Usually, the only times you get to spend significant time with your girlfriend past a chaste peck or a small whisper is when you are unconscious, fast asleep and she's just arriving home, and she slips into bed for the small amount of time she can sleep and feel your body with hers. Zani is so busy, and she almost feels guilty for how little time she gets to spend with her partner. It hits her every night as she hits the pillow, but then the moment is quickly overshadowed by her need for sleep, of which she quickly succumbs.
Until dawn, as light peeks through the tiny gaps in the curtains, Zani's alarm goes off, waking both her and you as per usual. However, this morning, instead of her usual (and preferred) routine of giving you a chaste kiss and getting up to dress herself, she shuts off the alarm and rolls back over to place her arm around your body once again. Confused, dreary and annoyed at having been woken up from your girlfriend's alarm, you murmur and mumble incoherently, only to be shushed quickly.
For another forty-five minutes you simply lay in one another's embrace. Doesn't she have work to get to? Things to do? She's usually long gone from home by now, why is she still in bed with you? The questions eventually just fizzle from your mind as your morning routine ensues, the one you usually follow in solitude. Zani gets up slowly with you, when you want to. There's no cracking of an energy drink can, no need for an instant caffeine rush of energy, just a calm and peaceful morning.
You make two cups of coffee, a much calmer aura overcoming the kitchen that you both occupy. Zani's tired eyes are evident, the grey patches underneath having been there for seemingly forever, but when you look slightly upward you see a gaze of pure adoration and domesticity. You set the mug down in front of her, steam rising from both of the matching cups. She takes it, nodding and having a sip. "Thank you." As her mug lowers itself, meeting the counter, she sighs. "Far too much sugar, my sweet, but it's okay."
