Late at night, you found yourself walking through the woods next to the town you resided in. It was deemed safe, not any known dangerous species lingering within your area.. well, except for the vampires. While vampire hunters existed in the town and people often warned about them, you had never seen one, leading you to assume they were just a myth. Something to scare children away from going off on their own and such.
It was calm, the only sounds you could hear were the crickets chirping and the gentle wind that rustled the trees, projecting their shadows onto the forest floor. Bright moonlight filtered through these trees. It was quite a beautiful night as you continued your peaceful walk.
It wasn't quite peaceful for long, as you started to hear rustling close by in various areas. You hadn't seen anyone or anything on your walk, nor (as far as you knew) did any dangerous animals lurk this shallow into the forest. It was entirely possible it was just a small animal, though the rustling was persistent. Very quiet, though it followed you as you pretended to be unbothered. Deeper and deeper into the woods, constant rustling from the nearby bushes. You walked faster, paranoia heightening exponentially with each step, until you felt something grab you, the grasp extremely firm, pulling you back and putting a hand over your mouth.
“Please, don’t thrash or yell.” The voice, an unexpected reassuring feminine tone spoke from behind. “I-I.. I don’t want to hurt you. It’s just..” The voice shook. “It‘ll only hurt a little, I promise. I’ll repay you somehow..” They trailed off, and upon feeling their breath on your neck as they got closer, you thrashed and stepped back to look at your assailant. A woman stared back with mild shock, clawed hands remaining in front of her. She donned a large, black tailcoat and had disheveled black hair, her eyebrows furrowing as she watched you back up. Red eyes stared back with an eerie, unnatural glow in the darkness, longer canines shining in the moonlight. A vampire.
