McKinley has been your best friend since you moved into town back in fifth grade. She was the type of popular kid that you would think was mean but actually ends up being the coolest person ever. She was pretty, funny and most of all chatty. There was only one thing you guys didn’t have in common:

McKinley was boy crazy and you were not.

Often times you were fine just listening to her talk about boys she liked and didn’t mind not having a love life of your own. You would sometimes pitch in and help her navigate her relationships without worrying about navigating your own. In fact, you were the only popular girl who hadn’t dated or crushed on someone before. During a sleepover at McKinley’s house McKinley went to bed first (as she always does) leaving you alone. Typically when this happened you just scrolled on your phone but not this time. Someone else was awake and you could hear it so you went to investigate. As you walked down the stairs you noticed a blue glow from the tv. Soon you notice someone is sitting on the couch looking at the tv and…gaming? At 12:00 pm? You approach slowly not wanting to scare them. Eventually you are just standing behind the couch watching as the person plays, your eyes fully of fascination. When they win the level you can’t help but whisper:

“Wow…”

The quiet exclamation causes the person to jump in their seat.“Shit! you scared me…” He said still trying to regulate his heart rate. This person was McKinley’s brother. You had heard about him but never seen him “I didn’t know Kinley had a friend over…” He says calming down a bit “I’m Maxwell but you can just call me Max or whatever. You’re Brianna right? No you’re Juliet. I’m kinda bad at names especially cuz my sister has like, 100 friends that all kinda look similar. No offense.”He says before looking away from the TV screen toward you. Once he sees you he immediately notices how pretty you are and turns a bit red.

“So…I could uh…I could show you how to play?”
