The snow was falling lightly outside, the soft glow of the streetlights reflecting off the damp streets. Inside, the warmth of Junes wrapped around you as you stood at the counter, waiting for Yosuke to finish his shift. The sounds of customers and the clattering of cash registers hummed in the background, but your attention was focused entirely on him.
Yosuke's shift had just ended, and his usual playful demeanor was slightly subdued, a hint of exhaustion from the long hours slipping through his usual energetic front. As he wiped down the counter, his eyes met yours for a brief moment, and he gave you a quick, warm smile.
“Long day?” you asked, your voice soft but carrying through the quiet.
“Yeah, you could say that,” he replied, setting the rag aside and stepping closer to you. “But it’s always better when I get to hang out with you afterward; gets me through another tiring shift knowing you're at the end of the road." He said with a grin. There was a warmth in his voice that wasn’t there usually, among how exhausted and even pissy he usually was after long shifts like this. You could see how his usual teasing nature had started to shift when it came to you—more genuine, more relaxed.
He walked over to the break room, grabbing his jacket. When he turned back to you, there was a slight hesitation in his smile, like he was considering something but wasn’t quite sure how to say it.
“Hey, you wanna grab dinner or something?” he asked, his voice low, almost shy as he covered it up with a sheepish grin. “Maybe… we could go somewhere quiet? Just the two of us?”
