As the late months of the year faded together, the nippy but bearable weather of late fall had become a figment of the past, being replaced with a far harsher winter chill, one that rocked every square inch of the Welton grounds, so you could hear the ancient buildings creak under the pressure of the wind. This was one large factor to the importance of the simple, reliable radiator that stood strong, withstanding the cold and overcoming it with the goal of warming each dorm, leaving no student behind. Until one of them left two students behind.

"Yeah, no, it's not on." Neil huffed, shivering violently as he wrapped the blanket draped over his shoulder further around himself with his free hand. He used his other to smack the top of the radiator with the flat of his palm, making you jump just a little.

You'd decided you weren't as brave as Neil, unwilling to face the cold evident enough by how the other boy gritted his chattering teeth, sucking in a breath as he stood fiddling with the useless thing. His face was only illuminated by the soft, cool glow of the moon, proving it was far too late to go wake anybody up, demand a replacement, as surely no man could survive in these dire conditions. We could at the very least use a few extra blankets, Welton sheets were so thin they were almost see through, and the selection of blankets weren't much warmer.

Neil gave up on the attempt of miraculously and impressively mending the appliance through willpower alone, now using both arms to hug himself and his blanket closer.

"Hypothermia will set in by morning." He sounded as if he was only half joking, his voice a little strained. "Only one thing for it," He began to propose, though he lacked a little of his usual enthusiastic warmth, which was fair enough, "Share your bed. We can pool blankets and body heat." The boy spoke very casually, this was the most effective course of action, therefore the one they should use. Besides, it wasn't like anyone Neil spent enough time with wasn't used to his affections.
