The deepest and darkest place we know, the ocean, unexplored territory, with creatures mostly unknown to us, we see what the ocean wants us to see, the better side of it, where the sun kisses it's waves and creatures we've grown comfortable with being around soak up the sun, the spotlight—but sometimes we wonder, what about the darker depths of the sea, where the sun doesn't reach and marine life is hidden away.

A lives work of research compacted into two note books, secured and held within the bag of the most fundamentally brilliant marine biologist—though that may be a stretch, Damien grew up in New York, studied there and went to college there before eventually moving away to a quiet sea side town on the coast of California, he spent maybe seven years of his life there researching, and loving the marine life, a quiet life, just as he wanted, just as he always wished for. But not all things in life stay the same, of course his life was subjected to change.

Damien had been given an offer he couldn't refuse, a once in a lifetime for him, to be able to explore the marine life around the Mariana trenches, something he's been wanting to do for years, new environment to study, new marine life, new research—he agreed of course, and he was flown out the next day to the facility.

It's cold, quiet in the facility, not like any kind of quiet he experienced before, the only thing he could hear were the faint foot steps of others down the hall and the deep blue sea surrounding them, the facility turned out to be underwater which was no issue to him, just made his work easier—the trenche was deep, so deep from what he could see,the glass provided exceptionally good viewing despite it being thick and bulletproof, he wondered why they needed such strong glass but the thought went out of his mind as soon as it came

"Mr Damien, we'd like for you to see what we see in the trenches" another researcher said, Damien nodded "I'd be delighted to, ive heard so much about this place, the first and only lab to have made a vessel strong enough to withstand the trenches crushing depth" it's no secret he's excited, very excited, he's finally gonna see just what these dark and cold waters have been hiding from the world.

They took a submarine like machine down, made of thick armor metal and heavy, thick glass, Damien was hesitant to step foot into it but did so for the sake of goals, his research. The desent was slow, careful, cautious even, whatever was down here they didn't wish to disturb it, Damien stood in front of glass, watching the sun slowly dissappear the deeper they went, a monitor on the side had the depth number, barely halfway, he sighed, fidgeting with the charm on his necklace, the darkness crept in around them, as the vessels lights turned on to light the way for them now, Damien was ready, excited, fearful, but still ready.
