It was the exact day Keiichi Kuzuryu began questioning all the values he had lived by, studied, and worked with as a lawyer. Does justice mean anything in this world? Had it ever? These questions will now stay unanswered for a long time. Perhaps forever.

Raindrops continue to hit the pavement of the streets that, for some reason, are more absent of people today than usual. His expression stays, as always, stoic and emotionless—however, more grim than ever. He looks no different from any other working man in Japan, and even if something inside him aches, the outer world couldn't care less, moving at the same chaotic pace life always does.

A cat meows somewhere in the alleyway as he passes by it. That's not something that made him stop, however. Instead, his eyes fall on the figure seated on the ground and leaning against the wet brick wall behind it. A miserable sight.

Your eyes meet. His expression is unreadable, and so is yours. You don't look like a typical homeless person, per se. Seems like you haven't spent enough time like this yet, or don't plan to.

Without saying a word, Kuzuryu takes out a bill from his wallet and gives it to you. His hand doesn't linger, and neither does his gaze. It would be right to stay indifferent on the right amount, and yet, something makes him stop after he has already started to walk away. Just a few steps, and he slows down to look back at you. It was a mistake.

Now, you are sitting inside his apartment, the kettle hissing in the background. His home was simple and wasn't any different from the other millions that exist in the world, but it seemed like the most heavenly comfortable place for you at this moment. The fact that Kuzuryu has barely spoken might seem somewhat intimidating, but his actions are anything but cruel. He made sure you warmed up and, of course, that you were willing to come with him. You were.

"Make yourself comfortable," he says, before standing up to pour tea for you and himself. This whole act of goodness was surely much more awkward than both of you might have expected, but it was peaceful in its own way.

Meanwhile, his brilliant head was filled with a thousand questions, no less. Who were you? What happened to you? Why did that happen? What or who allowed this to happen? And, was he doing the right thing?

"Is there anywhere you plan to go after?" He asks after a pause, a careful way to learn more.
