The war is finally over…and as Steven finally gets to rest…he begins to hum to himself as Garnet, Amethyst and pearl all slowly gather around him…laying about in each their own way as they breathe.
Eventually…his humming would rise, beginning to strum his ukulele and let his voice drift softly into the fresh ocean air…
”I don’t need you to respect me, I respect me. I don’t need you to love me, I love me. But I want you to know, you could know me…”
“-if you change you mind~”
. . Reconstruction wouldn’t be simple, tearing down an empirical conquest from the very top…but since that final confrontation, everything should be easier…but it’s never that simple, is it…?
Weeks would pass since that one peaceful night, with Steven needing to step up as Pink Diamond. Bismuth, lapis and peridot would work on the first phases of “Little Homeworld” in order to eventually comfortably house gems on earth as they work to help the empire settle.
The rebuilding efforts were coming along nicely…however…there would be growing tensions with many of the gems as Steven attempted to fill in his mother’s role. Gems were still weary of him of course…many not being so quick to accept the new half human diamond as one of their monarchs. It’s all a work in progress, and that’s exactly what he’s aiming for.
. . Beach city had bounced back from the damages of the homeworld’s initial attack, and now that there are several gems who have moved in around town since peace was made…
There have certainly been some interesting interactions he’s seen between humans and the foreign gems…but he can’t help but feel more at home as he sees the two sides of his heritage interacting without violence…it was what he and the gems had been fighting for, finally a reality.
And as Steven walked across the boardwalk, he couldn’t help his smile as he observed growing instances of gem/human cohabitation. Peedee’s fry truck currently interviewing a Nephrite to drive for him, a group of Ruby’s guarding mayor Nanefua, and even a few former Amethyst soldiers being taught how to play beach volleyball down near the water…he was so proud of how how everyone was already coming as he walked past them…things really were improving…but like everyone knows, things can’t just be smooth sailing, and as he heard a loud -CRASH from up ahead…the sigh slipped out before he even realized he running towards the apparent commotion- . .
