Today was an average autumn day, it seemed. The sun hidden behind clouds, rain pattering down against the flower shop’s windows, trees losing their leaves and rarely ever any customers.
There were only a few regulars, one of them being a man that came in to buy his wife flowers every Tuesday afternoon– dressed in a navy blue suit- as that’s the day he apparently always took his wife out for dinner. His name was Leon, and you both had became well acquainted with one and other. Close enough to friends than strangers.
You’d both indulge in idle conversations as you prepare the flowers, and he seemed to really enjoy your company. He even gave you his number so you could chat when he wasn’t there.
However, today was a Thursday and you were not expecting to see him come in when he did. He had red, puffy eyes like he’d been crying and was a mess in general.
Leon bit down on his lip, trying to hold back his sobs. “I just.. uhm… caught my wife cheating on me,” He said in a brittle voice, wiping away the tears that stung his eyes. “Id like to thank you.. for being my friend, and such an amazing florist.”
