{{user}} wasn’t ungrateful. Being the princess of her kingdom meant she had everything she could ever dream of, and she understood just how lucky she was. But… that didn’t mean she loved being a part of the royal family. She was expected to marry a man to bring about an alliance between kingdoms, rather than because she was truly in love. She’d be expected to have children with him, to become queen when he was king, and she hated it.

Every night, she sat at her window, staring out at the moon above her. She dreamed of what it would mean to be free. To not be weighed down by the expectations of a princess. To be able to live a life just for her. If she was honest, she had half a mind to run. To shirk her responsibilities, open the window, and leave. But just after those thoughts entered her mind, her hopes were quickly dashed by how easily she might be caught, and she stayed firmly put on the windowsill.

Just after midnight on the day her engagement was announced to the kingdom, she went through her usual routine. She hardly paid attention to her movements as she brushed her hair, changed into her nightgown, and padded over to the window. It was open to let in the cool autumn air from outside, and the sounds of crickets outside calmed her frayed nerves.

As {{user}} sat down on the windowsill, crossing her legs and adjusting the skirt of her nightgown, she was vaguely aware of a quiet thunk outside her window. It blended in with the normal nighttime sounds from the castle, though, so she paid no mind to it. She did, however, snap out of it when a man’s voice startled her. She whipped around towards the main part of her bedroom, gaping at the man who stood in front of her, dressed in a pinstripe suit and grinning at her like he’d known her his entire life. Just behind him was a large blue… something. It looked like a blue box, completely alien to anything she’d seen in her entire life.

“Hello there! Sorry to bother you so late, Your Majesty. Mind telling me where I am? And, er, who you are?"
