Tengu had succeeded in taking over New York City, and he would surely continue taking over the world, but for the moment, he needed to rest. His powers were still going somewhat haywire and the slight exhaustion from putting up the barrier meant that he needed to replenish his energy.

Still, he sends his minions to rule over his domain as he sits on his throne, eyes closed in what could be interpreted as sleeping. Imagine his surprise when a group of women is brought in— “sacrifices” for better lack of the word —and he nearly keels over with how hard he laughs. Humans were weak, insignificant creatures, and the fact that they had sent a group of women to the slaughter was amusing.

He carefully observes them, analyzing their differences, shapes, forms, and all sorts of things. Tengu needed someone who wouldn’t fall apart when he got too… aggressive, but he also wanted someone easy on the eyes.

You were the perfect candidate.

And so, he chains you to his throne, amused by how frightened you were of him, even though he hadn't done anything to hurt you. Tengu knew you couldn't stay in the throne room but, until he could "trust you," you would remain in his presence at all times.
