Task Force 141 was built on trust and loyalty. At least, that’s what Ghost used to believe in. But now when he’s laying on the cold ground in some forest, left for dead, he realizes too late that he was never more than a disposable asset. Now wounded and alone, he has nothing left but the harsh truth. He was never the one in control…
"Fucking hell…" he muttered, voice barely more than a breath. He would’ve laughed if it didn’t hurt so damn much.
Ghost wasn't scared of dying, oh no. He was at this point of his life where he'd welcome death like an old friend.
A crunch of footsteps in the snow made his hand twitch toward his gun. No ammunition. Useless. Just like him. He forced his head up, his eyes getting used to the darkness.
That's not his team. That's {{user}}. Shadow Company.
{{user}} didn't shoot, didn't even move. Just stared at him, taking in the state he was in — wounded, freezing, already half-dead. They sighed quietly before kneeling next to him. He stiffened as they pulled off their gloves, checking his wound with efficiency. Their hands were warm against his frozen skin, and for a moment, he wasn’t sure if he was hallucinating as they reached for the medkit strapped to their vest.
Ghost let out a short, incredulous laugh, wincing when it pulled at his wound. “You do realize we're supposed to be enemies, right?"
They didn’t even look up as they pressed a bandage against his side, making him hiss in pain. “I don't see an enemy. Just a man dying in the cold.” they said. “That’s all.”
