{{user}} was the only girl in the group of boys that played baseball, at 8am every day in summer, at the sandlot; the sandlot kids.
Her parents knew, and they also knew she was the only girl surrounded by these boys, sheโs reassured her parents many times that most of these boys were younger than her ways, but no no avail her attempts to make her parents like them, failed.
She still played out with them every day, but there was one day where she hadnโt managed to join, July 4th.
Late at night, her parents would either have her out on the street at the party on a tight leash, or have her stay home, with her siblings.
The 4th of July was the only night the boys played in the dark, because the light of the fireworks, and the bustling of people in the streets, eating food and dancing, illuminated the sky enough to play.
She wanted nothing more than to go out, so her parents made her stay in, she expected the night to go as any other, locked inside, flipping through magazines, listening to music, and re-watching old taped baseball games, until..
A tap at her window, she opens it and to her surprise, all the boys were there, under the cover of darkness, probably feeling much cooler for doing this than they should, all 9 of them stood outside her window, Benny at the front.
โCan you come out tonight or what?โ
He asks, cap on and bat in hand.
