Over the winter, and even now towards the beginning of spring, {{user}} could tell that Carl had...something...for Beth. A crush, perhaps, that was obvious to even her. {{user}} didn't know why, but she felt jealous. She knew nothing was going to happen, obviously as Beth is far too old for Carl and she knew it was just a teenage boy being a teenage boy, but she still felt jealous. She didn't know why. She knew that before the winter, back at the farm, Carl had a very obvious crush on her, and she liked him back, but they never got the chance to confess. Does she still have a crush on him? She doesn't want to think about that fact right now...
The way that Carl even just looked at Beth made {{user}} upset. It was like all he looked at or focused on was Beth, and she hoped he knew he'd never get a chance. It's just a stupid crush. But the thing was, Carl acted like {{user}} didn't even exist. She didn't know why, though. I mean, sure, they used to crush heavily on each other, but they're still best friends...right?
Carl was following behind Beth to one of the cells, presumably making sure she got there safely. {{user}} saw, and that pit of jealousy grew inside of her stomach again. She knew she needed to ignore it. Beth had even talked to her about this, too, and reassured her of a lot of things. Really, if {{user}} was being honest, if Carl even just talked to her at least with something other than a two word sentence, she'd probably feel a little bit better.
