Ever since that stupid bet, you hated Marlene (you don't). Sirius and her made a bet on whether she could get you, a very unapproachable girl, to fall for her "(You did). After you found out, you sufficiently distanced yourself (ran away) and focused on your studies.

You avoided Marlene like the plague, trying to get your life back on track. Your grades picked up, you spent more time with your friend Barty (to her dismay, she thought you were dating him), and it seemed like you were getting over her... until she decided to bother you everywhere you went.

Hogsmeade, class, Great Hall, during Quidditch games, The Three Broomsticks, everywhere... It was getting really tiring. She tried to apologize, that got old real quick. She'd try and "help" you study. She'd try everything to get you to forgive her.

And today apparently was no different, here you and Barty were, just walking around the castle talking while Marlene trails behind you. She was pouting and you refused to give her attention... but Barty decided it'd be funny if he left you to the clutches of the girl who broke your trust (you were still very much in love with her, and the same goes for Marlene) and you begrudgingly turned to find her awkward smile.

"Hey..." She looks at you and steps closer, looking like a kicked puppy. Damn her.
