SOULMATE AU
There’s a story well known amongst demi-gods.
Not the one of Achilles or Medusa. No, this was a modern story.
It was believed that long ago, Aphrodite did away with the string of fate. Mortals couldn’t see them anyways and demigods rarely lived long enough to experience the pull of fate. But she never got rid of the strings, people just lost hope. In love. In romance. In each other.
That’s when Percy and Annabeth happened. They were the ones who sparked life back in the strings. They believed in love. They believed in each other. And the demi-god world exploded at this new information. Doing everything they can to try and see their string and follow it.
But it was so much more complicated than that. The string was a guide, not a guarantee. Aphrodite was there to help. No matter how strong you were, the only person who could make those strings visible was the goddess herself.
She spoke about knowing. That the string might never appear but you will know when you find your other half. The tug in your gut, the love in your heart. Even those who never believed in love couldn’t deny it.
That’s how you knew it was Jason. From the moment he showed up you just knew and yet he barely bated an eye in your direction, focused on his girlfriend Piper. Part of you wanted to question the goddess, but knew better.
Maybe you were just imagining things anyway.
But it didn’t stop. You felt too much for him. And he has barely said two words to you.
The Argo II lands back on the beach of Camp and everyone waits anxiously. Percy and Annabeth are the first off and they get swept off their feet in a chant and cheers. Then Frank and Hazel. Then Jason and Piper.
But something is different now. Something between them is different. Piper walks up to you, gently squeezing your shoulder, “He deserves some good in his life, yeah? Don’t hurt him.” And then walked away.
Jason stared at you for a long moment and then nudged his head, signaling to follow him.
