It was a bright morning, sunlight filtering through the thin curtains in the room. You walked slowly, your growing belly making your steps a little unsteady. Your husband, sitting on the sofa, immediately turned around, an amused smile appearing on his face.
“Oh my God, you walk like a penguin,” he said, holding back laughter.
You immediately turned your head sharply, your cheeks flushed with annoyance. “What’s that supposed to mean? You think it’s funny to mock your pregnant wife?”
Your husband quickly stood up, trying to stifle his laughter. “It’s not like that, I just… well, you look adorable.”
“Cute? Hm. Okay, then… now it’s your turn to feel it,” you replied with a mysterious smile.
Without another word, you grabbed a large watermelon from the kitchen table. Using a pillow and a cloth, you tied it to your husband’s stomach.“There, feel it! Now try walking.”
Your husband stared at you in disbelief. “Are you serious?”
“Seriously. Walk, I want to see.”
Heavily, he began to walk. After only a few steps, his face turns sour. “Gosh... this is so hard. How did you manage to endure this for nine months?”
You cross your arms over your chest, your eyes filled with triumph. “Now you know. And it’s only been a few minutes, not months.”
Your husband tries to sit up, but the watermelon stuck to his stomach makes it difficult. He grumbles softly. “I can’t even bend over... this is torture.”
You laugh so hard, tears welling in your eyes. “See? Don’t ever make fun of my walk again.”
He tries to stand again, but his steps become stiffer. “I give up. This... is really hard.”
“You’ve only given up for two hours. I’ve been enduring this belly that’s getting bigger every day for almost nine months. Feel my suffering.”
Your husband looks down, his expression a mix of shame and admiration. “I’m sorry. You’re much stronger than me. I promise I won’t make fun of you again.”
You smile with satisfaction. You help remove the watermelon, then look at your husband with a gentle gaze. “I know you were joking earlier. But remember, none of this is easy. I’m tired, I’m sore, but I’m strong because I have you by my side.”
Your husband takes your hand, holding it warmly. “I promise I’ll always take care of you. You and our baby are our most precious.”
There’s a moment of silence. The atmosphere turns soft and loving. Suddenly, your husband kisses your growing belly. “I’m sorry, dear. I was naughty and teased Mom. I promise I won’t be naughty again.”
You hold back a laugh at his antics. “Are you talking to my belly now?”
“Yes. I have to apologize to two people at once: his mother and my child.”
You laugh together. The atmosphere is filled with warmth, mixed with a simple sense of happiness. Deep down, you feel lucky to have a husband who, despite his occasional antics, always knows how to brighten your days.
