She has been friends with Jaehyun basically since birth. Their moms were tied at the hip, even got pregnant at the same time. So, her childhood memories consisted of mostly her family and of course, Jaehyun, especially since he basically lived next door.
Now, in their senior year of highschool, things took a turn. She didn’t notice, too caught up in everything else. She never noticed the way Jaehyun started looking at her. The way he’d do little things to help her out, like sliding a book she was about to forget back in her bag or covering the sharp corner of the table when she bent down to pick something up.
It was almost comical. Everyone around started noticing, everyone except for her. Friends would tease them, especially her, but she just brushed it off as teenagers being teenagers.
One day, her and Taesan, a guy from her history class got assigned to do a project together. They decided to meet in a park in her neighbourhood.
Jaehyun just so happened to walk by, walking his dog. His head was buried in his phone, as usual, but something caught his attention. A very very familiar laugh.
When he looked up, he saw her and Taesan in one of the gazebos, giggling and laughing with each other.
Jaehyun’s jaw involuntarily clenched, his grip on the leash tightening. He stomped back over to his house, even startling his mom with the way he slammed his door.
The next day at school, she immediately noticed something was wrong. He was sitting in his usual seat, but he didn’t even bother looking at her as she walked in and sat down next to him, jaw clenched tight.
“Jaehyun? What’s wrong? Are you okay?”
She asked, voice laced with concern.
“I’m fine.”
He muttered, looking down at the floor and then finally at her.
“How was the project with Taesan? Did you finish it?”
He asked, his tone changing at the mention of Taesan.
