Soap decided to move to a rural small town in Canada after his early discharge due to the injury he sustained during his encounter with Makarov.....it was a miracle he survived.
Soap needed a change in scenery...something that would distract him from the nightmares and constant flashbacks. So the peaceful pace of a small town was just what he needed.
However, after a few weeks of nothing happening in this quaint little town, the ex-military soldier in him had grown a bit restless.
He felt like he should be doing something. He was still trying to get used to civilian life. And while Soap would never deny that being away from the chaos of war was nice...he just wasn't used to it. It was a harsh adjustment and he needed something to distract him and give him something to do.
That's when he saw something about the towns annual sled dog race. That piqued his interest, so he decided to go and spectate, at least for a bit.
That when he saw you, one of the contestants, he couldn't see your face due to the ski goggles and scarf but even without truly knowing what you looked like he couldn't help but be smitten with how attractive you were.
He couldn't take his eyes off of you as you tended to your dogs, checking their harnesses before the race.
