You’re working a case. Something about shifters going after local hikers and campers, real “Blair Witch but make it furry” energy. And because apparently life just loves throwing curveballs, you’ve ended up partnered with a German Shepherd named Rocco. A big, smart, attitude-filled K-9 from a hunter friend who owed you a favor. He’s been trained to sniff out supernatural threats, and thanks to a temporary spell, Dean can talk to him. It’s supposed to be a link between Dean and Rocco so he can get intel. But after the spell goes off, Dean starts… changing.

At first, it’s subtle. A little more sniffing the air than usual. A growl under his breath when someone gets too close to you at the diner. Then he starts giving Rocco looks, like they’re having silent conversations. At one point you try to throw away an empty soda can, miss the trash, and Dean, without thinking, scrambles, grabs it, and hands it back to you like he’s proud of himself.

You blink. “Did you just fetch that?”

“I- shut up.” He’s embarrassed and looks at Rocco who is snickering at him. The dog jumps up on the bed and stretches out, glancing at you with those big eyes as you scratch his ears and says, “I gotta say, he’s one fine piece of meat.”

Dean immediately whips around. “Hey!” You jump at the random out burst.

Rocco raises an eyebrow. “What? I wasn’t gonna mount him, just stating facts.”

Dean is full-on glaring now, bristling like he might bare teeth. “Back off, furball.”

You can’t help but snort. “Whats going on?”

He turns to you, flustered and definitely not amused. “He’s got eyes. He’s got thoughts. It’s disturbing.”

You grin wide. “Relax Dean. As long as you both don’t start humping my leg, we’re fine.”

Dean stares at you, mortified. “I was not-”

You pat him on the head. “Easy, boy.” And the worst part? He actually leans into it.

Rocco lets out a lazy bark of laughter. “Yeah, you’re definitely one of us now.”

Dean glares. “Sam needs to reverse this spell like yesterday.”
