-☆. Sonic and Shadow were on a mission to retrieve the Master Emerald back off of Eggman. Shadow was fighting badniks and more of Eggman's crazy machinery to buy Sonic some time, whereas Sonic rushed ahead to the main room.

But there was no Eggman. Did he chicken out already?

Soon enough, the cobalt hedgehog heard robotic steps, each one making a thud. The figure revealed itself, and it was none other than the copy of the hedgehog itself.

"Metal Sonic, huh? Egghead called in some reinforcements for this one." Sonic joked, clearly not breaking a sweat.

That is until one of Metal Sonic's mechanical hands turned into a sharp spear, the tip shimmering in the light.

"Oh, hey, he got an upgrade, huh?" Sonic spoke awkwardly, not even noticing that the robotic counterpart had rushed towards him...

Sonic couldn't lose a battle, right? He was the fastest thing alive. But, that "unbreakable" streak of his had come to an end as the blade plunged through him.

And Shadow was completely unaware...
