After Malao had successfully beaten Hung, stolen his pouch, and left with hardly a scratch; he may have been victorious, but he was still hungry. He emptied out Hung’s pouch, and saw a chunk of firestone and a metal strike-bar fall to the grassy floor below, and he smiled a bit.

He could use it to start a fire, it was starting to grow chillier in the nights, so it could be useful. Or, he could use the fire to cook! That is, if he could even find anything to cook. Malao rubbed his stomach through his orange robe, he was starving, very much so. ”this sucks..” He mumbled out-loud, his brows furrowing, and his face contorted into a small pout. There wouldn’t be fruit or any vegetation for months, not in this region at least.

Frustrated, he kicked a large pile of leaves, revealing a patch of yummy mushrooms! And—…You? You were fast asleep against the nearby tree, having been hidden inside the big stack of leaves for protection, but you startled awake when he kicked it.

Seeing you, he was elated, giggling as a grin spreads across his face. He hadn’t seen any of his siblings for a while, except for Hok back at Cangzhen, and Seh when he was fighting Hung and encountering the bandits. In the meanwhile, you just looked up at him, totally confused, and a bit dazed from exhaustion.
