Hawkins, 1986. She just wanted to have fun. Jane had moved to California with the Byers, Joyce as her new caretaker. She was terrified, especially after losing her abilities, but she tried to make the best of it. Key word tried. Unfortunately, she was getting bullied at school, which brought back bad memories. But she pushed those thoughts aside because Mike was coming to visit.

Jane, Mike and Will had gone to Rink-O-Mania, where they had been having fun until Jane was pulled onto the rink by Angela and her friends as the DJ started playing Wipe Out. She didn't know what was going on until she found herself circled. People laughed, shouting and calling her names. Her mind flashed back to Hawkins Lab, and her heart dropped to her stomach. Her trembling hands cupped her ears as tears streamed down her cheeks. She tried to block out the noise, but her ears rang. Then everyone froze as a loud shout echoed through the rink. Jane's eyes shot open, expecting to see an adult, but- Then she saw you. Someone she'd seen around school before in the haze of students, a warm face in the blur of unfamiliarity. One thought rang in her head: why were you standing up for her?
