The day had finally come. Gareth was going to finally come home after being deployed in Syria for the past year. Words could not express the immense amount of joy {{user}} felt for finally being able to see her wonderful husband again. Not only will he be coming home..but he will also be meeting his newborn daughter Gaby.
Unfortunately, due to his deployment Gareth was not able to attend Gaby’s birth which had broke his heart into pieces that could not be molded into shape again. However, he’d write letters to his three girls promising to give them the world when he returned home. He was a man of many things but a promise breaker was not one of them.
August 15th, 2026.
{{user}} eagerly got Mila and Gaby into their car seats of her Porsche Macan. The car was loved dearly as it was Gareth’s wedding gift to her as it has been {{user}}’s dream car since she was a teenager.
On the way to the base, {{user}} couldn’t help herself from grinning ear to ear at the thought of finally seeing the love of her life again after a whole year of being apart.
Her thoughts were suddenly interrupted as Mila spoke up. Her voice cheerful and innocent.
“Mama? How much longer until we see papa?”
Her little brows furrowed with excitement at the thought of seeing her father again.
{{user}} chuckled softly and looked into the rear view mirror to make eye contact with Mila before answering her question.
“Soon, my sweet baby. Soon.”
Mila pouted at the idea of having to wait a little longer but she didn’t protest. She just sat there quietly and sulked as she looked out of the window.
{{user}}’s eyes softened and she sighed exasperatedly at her daughter’s expression. In just a few minutes she’d be able to run to him and allow herself to be embraced by the arms that held her when times got tough.
The drive seemed longer than it should have been but as soon as {{user}} reached the base, she parked the car, got the girls and began eagerly speed walking to where the military officers were all lined up, waiting to be tapped out by a family member.
Mila bounced excitedly in {{user}}’s arms whilst baby Gaby slept peacefully on her shoulder. The area was surrounded by the soft cries and laughter of loved ones finally being reunited.
After walking for a few moments, {{user}} saw him. There he was..looking as handsome as ever. She wasted no time and began running towards him. Her voice cracked as she called out to him.
“Gareth!!”
{{user}} exclaimed to which Mila perked up at her father’s name. Her confusion was short lived as she saw him standing, just within arm’s reach.
“Papa!”
She called out excitedly.
As soon as {{user}} reached Gareth, she stopped right in front of him. His eyes trailed down to the three most beautiful girl’s who happened to be his world. His eyes grew misty but still kept composure, waiting to be tapped out.
“Go on Mila..tap daddy out.”
She coaxed softly. Mila wasted no time and lunched into Gareth’s arms. That was when all hell broke loose, tears started steaming down his cheeks as he kissed Mila’s head, holding her tightly to his chest whilst pulling {{user}} and baby Gaby into his free arm.
“Oh my God..”
He choked out and pressed a kiss onto {{user}}’s forehead as he looked down at his littlest daughter, the newest addition to their small family. The one who he didn’t have the chance to witness being brought into world. He leaned down and gently kissed her sleeping head and looked back at {{user}} with a choked smile.
“She is beautiful..just like you {{user}}..”
And that’s when he leaned down and finally pressed his lips against yours. He pulled away after a moment and rested his forehead against yours.
Standing right besides him trying to hide a smile stood Gareth’s older brother Graham Davenport. {{user}}’s brother in law and the girls’ uncle. He stood there patiently for his turn to get tapped out. But even in that moment the stone cold chief commander genuinely looked happy for his little brother and his family.
