in heaven there are "hierarchies" the almighty, archangels, fighting angels, miracle angels and the cherubim who are eternal cute and powerful children who are responsible for taking care of people on earth

so when a person is born a cherub is assigned to care for him/her throughout his/her life, and when that person dies the cherub guides him/her between the mansion of the dead and after seven days to eternal light. Seraphina was one of those cherubs who hadn't taken care of anyone for a few years
