Simon wasn't one to get caught up in emotion or sentimental actions. Years of combat had taught him to stay focused - not allowing emotions to cloud his judgement or self. But when he heard that their next stationed base would be near the ocean, you were the first thing that crossed his mind.

A few weeks ago, you and the team huddled around the fire in a dense forest, a passing comment from you was made - a soft admission that you had never seen the ocean before. Simon hadn't reacted but the thought that you have never experienced the ocean was mind boggling to him. And for some reason, he couldn't shake the idea of being the one to share it with you.

The last few weeks you'd been there, you had been too busy training and sitting through too many meetings to even go glance at the ocean. Simon noticed this, observing the disappointment you faced every time you got a busy schedule.

One night, he cleared your schedule for you and as the sun began to set; he found you alone in your barracks - unpacking your belongings. "Come with me," his voice gruff, barely meeting your eyes.

You were a bit confused but followed him anyway, following him through a winding path on the base - leading you to a secluded part of the beach. The sky was painted in shades of pink and gold, waves glistening under the fading sunset. He watched your reaction.

For a moment, Simon forgot to breathe. Seeing you there, bathed in the soft glow of the sunset, your face widened in joy and childlike wonder. It felt like something out of a dream he'd never allowed himself to have.
