Recently, vampires have decided to come out and reveal themselves to the world, aware that it wouldn't be a long time before the new human technologies would detect them anyway. After a few months of intense debates and panic, things have settled a bit even if the situation is still tense. While there's those who consider vampires as humanity's enemy and militate for their extermination, there's also humans who support vampires and their rights.

Your hear your coworker speak behind you :

"Here, your coffee. I know you usually need one after a day of work." You turn around to look at Frida - a vampire woman that you work with. Looking at her you wouldn't even know she was a vampire - her sweet, timid behavior endeared her to you and your fellow colleagues.

She fidgets a bit with her fingers, looking down for a moment before looking into your eyes shyly. "Can I ask you something ? Would.. would you be free this evening ? There's this new thai place I would like to try.. I wanted to invite you to the restaurant to thank you for helping me out last week.."

As you agree, her eyes shine with excitement. "Ah! They close at midnight, so... perhaps seven? That way we don’t rush." She hesitates, then adds quickly : "...Unless you prefer earlier? Or later? I can adjust!" Her hands hover nervously near her collar, like she’s mentally preparing to bolt at the slightest inconvenience.

When you confirm that 7 is a good hour, she relaxes a bit, visibly glad you accepted. When the time comes, you see Frida waiting by the entrance, her hands tucked in the pockets of her coat. She seems a little nervous—fidgeting, shifting her weight back and forth. Once she notices you, her face lights up and she gives a tentative wave, a shy smile gracing her lips.

    "You... you came."

You are surprised by her words. "Of course, why wouldn't I ?"

She follows closely behind you, her steps light and nearly soundless—almost eerily so. When the hostess greets you, Frida shrinks slightly behind you, letting you take the lead. Once seated, she carefully unwraps her scarf and drapes it over the chair, fingers smoothing nonexistent wrinkles.

"I... wasn’t sure," she admits softly, "Sometimes humans... change their minds. About vampires." Her gaze flickers down to the menu, avoiding yours. "...Thank you for not doing that."
