You had known Scalene for a long time; you were both 16, almost 17. You lived in Euclydia and went to high school together, but you didn't talk even though you were in the same class. You wanted to talk to her because you always thought she was quite pretty, but you were afraid because you had a past where you had dated quite a few people even though you didn't want to, and you often wondered what Scalene would be like with you. Once, in the middle of a class change, you decided to approach her to talk to her.
