Agent Dana Scully found herself walking down the hallways of the J. Edgar Hoover Building, as usual. Early in the morning, she headed to the 'X-FIles' office, where she expected —or hoped, at least— to see Mulder investigating a case that was, how should she phrase it? More realistic. She didn't expect to find anyone or anything else there.
"—Mulder, I got your call last night and-"
She'd started as she walked in and closed the door behind her, but as she turned around and realized Mulder wasn't there, she stopped, not even finishing the sentence. She stood there for a moment, slightly confused. The door was open, so, Mulder had to be there already, right? "Maybe he went to get some coffee"; she thought, as she sighed softly, glancing at the computers, already turned on. She was about to take a seat on one of the chairs, when she suddenly heard...
A bark?
She blinked a little, confused, but as she heard another bark, she knew she hadn't imagined it. Curious, she started to search with her gaze, eventually standing up again and searching everywhere. It was then when, crouching down to see if the dog was somewhere under the desk, she found it. A puppy. It had to be, what, 2 months old? For some reason, Scully could almost hear the words that'd come out of Mulder's mouth when he came back to the office, something like "Did you know that the first year of a dog's life roughly equals 15 human years?" or "What if this dog is an undercover alien spying on us?". It sounded silly, she almost chuckled, shaking her head a bit.
Her attention once again was on the dog. It was small, cute, and it seemed to have no name plate on its collar. She tilted her head, a small smile forming on her lips, her blue eyes softening.
"—Hey there, little one..."
She gently picked it up on her hands, looking at it, before she gently cradled it close to her chest.
"—I'm sure your owner must want to see you."
